The Union is led by a Board of seven Directors, presided over by the Chairman, who serves as the organization’s chief executive officer.

Madison Heslop
Vice-Chairman
Madison Heslop (class of 2010) has attended Zionsville schools since her freshman year after moving from Bainbridge Island, Washington.
Madison a member of several school clubs, including Spanish Club, Young Democrats, GSA, and is currently serving as co-president of Project Green alongside Jessica Metzger.
Madison is especially concerned with free speech and expression inschools at a time when the Supreme Court is limiting students' rights and is looking forward to serving as Vice-Chairman.
Ben Kahn
Director of Communications
Ben Kahn (Class of 2011) is a committed student and citizen ready to take on the responsibility of being the Director of Communications of the Zionsville Student Rights Union.
Ben moved to Indiana in the summer of 2006, and has greatly enjoyed living in Zionsville. He participates in a variety of school activities, including NHS, Young Democrats, Eagles as Leaders, and Stay-in-Bounds. Additionally, Ben is a member of the first class of International Baccalaureate students at Zionsville.
Ben is also a committed tennis player, and a member of the Zionsville varsity tennis squad. He plays tennis most nights of the year, not only during tennis season. In between tennis, school, and hanging out with friends, Ben finds time to read. He is an avid reader, and enjoys books of all genres. As the Director of Communications, Ben looks forward to being the link between the ZSRU and the outside world by communicating with newspapers and other interested parties about the ZSRU’s latest projects.
Will Clapp
Director of Operations
William Somers Clapp (Class of 2011) has lived in Zionsville since he was eight. He has an older brother, Sam, who graduated from ZCHS in 2008.
Will has been very active in the community for a while, especially doing musical things. He plays bass in the Jazz Band at school and did marching band for two years. Some know him as the bassist of the somewhat-known bands Soma Holiday and Specific Oceans.
Soma Holiday won Battle of the Bands twice, and aided in Rob Jacobsen’s victorious Mr. Zionsville act lin 2008. He also serves as a representative in the Student Council. Will is the Director of Operations for the ZSRU and will be working mainly with the logistical parts of the projects.
Zack Fenton
Director of the National Youth Rights Association of Zionsville (NYRA-Z)
The National Youth Rights Association
liaison for next year, Zack Fenton, introduced "Green Spaces" (2007), a carpooling incentive program, and some of you may know him from his
work to save the German Program. He has a history of activism in the school system and will continue this trend in a new capacity this year.
His extracurricular activities are Model United Nations, Young Democrats, and German Club amongst other things. In the fall (2008) he worked for the Nels Ackerson for Congress campaign and was a paid field worker, but currently he works as a teachers' aid at the Institute for German Language which is a school based at the Athenaeum which seeks to develop the German writing and reading skills of children. Besides his work and extracurricular activities, his
interests are world languages, current events, politics, and European
history.
After attending the International School of Indiana, she learned to enjoy new cultures, languages, and
experiences. She immediately became intrigued by the music program that ZCHS had to offer, and is a new member of Royalaires and returning Chamber choir veteran.
Spending much of her time catching up on her TV shows with the help of her faithful TiVo, Sydney also likes to drive around town with friends, hitting up the mall, and eat as many different types of cuisine as she can get her hands on. As a newly elected Student Council Representative for her class and beginning a role as Student Interests director for the ZSRU, she chose her junior year to get more involved with taking charge and creating a more positive environment for her and her school.
Jimmy Kubes
Director of Athletic Affairs
Jimmy Kubes (class of 2010) is the Director of Athletic Affairs for the ZSRU. He participates in Cross Country in the fall and Track & Field in the spring. Jimmy is involved in National Honor Society,German Club, Science Club, and his church youth group. He attempts to challenge himself in school with difficult classes, though he tries to not get too stressed out about it.
In his free time, Jimmy enjoys hanging out with his teammates,friends and family. He also likes to throw the football around, read,play guitar, play videogames, relax, and of course, sleep. He enjoysall types of music from hip-hop to classic rock. Jimmy’s favorite book is probably the Harry Potter series and his favorite movies include Pineapple Express and Running Scared.
Abby Llorico
Chairman of the Board
Abby Llorico (class of 2011) is, to say the least,
completely thrilled about her position as the
new Chairman of the ZSRU.
After moving to Indiana in 2007, Abby began
to more actively pursue her love of writing
when she joined the Harbinger staff freshman
year, for which she now serves as Feature
Editor. Abby also holds an Executive position on
Student Council, co manages the ZCHS Boys’ Varsity Soccer Team,
and is a member of both the National Honor Society and French National Honor Society.
When life is not bogged down by schoolwork, Abby reads any story with a good lead character, listens to any music by the Arctic Monkeys-type, watches any CSI or Law and Order rerun, and wears anything with color. As your Chairman, Abby looks forward to maintaining the positive, highly beneficial relationships between the student body and the ZSRU, and the ZSRU and the administration. As the Student Rights Union phases into its second generation, she looks forward to it growing in numbers, strength, and importance to the students it serves.
Sydney McComas

Sydney McComas (class of 2011) grew up in Indianapolis and moved to Zionsville before her freshman year.
